Library cards are free for Port Neches residents, and $20 a year for non-residents. The Library has a responsibility to protect the taxpayers' investment in the collection of the Library. Therefore, identification and two (2) forms of verification of residence are required to obtain a Library card:
1. IDENTIFICATION can be established through a current driver's license, school identification card or other valid picture identification issued by a governmental agency.
2. VERIFICATION OF RESIDENCE can be established by presenting two (2) of the following items:
- Car insurance
- Driver's license
- Property tax forms
- Rental agreement
- Telephone book listing
- Utility bills
- Voter registration
- Other governmental forms showing a physical address
Note: A post office box number does NOT qualify as a residence address. A printed check does not qualify as a verification of residence.
Eligibility requirement for minors:
Parent or guardian must have a patron card before applying for an individual card for a minor.
TexShare is a cooperative program designed to improve service to Texans. Members include public libraries that belong to the regional library systems, academic libraries, and libraries of clinical medicine. TexShare enables libraries to offer a broader range of materials and services than any single library can provide for its constituents.
With a TexShare Card, a library patron may directly borrow books, music, movies and more from any other participating TexShare library, just as if he or she were card-holder there.
Click HERE to see the TexShare lending policies. (Note: Not every library participates, so look for "Texshare Card: Yes" in the library's listing.)
